La stampa? Ecco cosa ne ha scritto Thomas Jefferson

2 gennaio 1814.
Thomas Jefferson, non più alla Executive Mansion avendo scelto di non ripresentarsi dopo due mandati, scrive all’amico Walter Jones una lunga lettera.
Eccone alcuni punti:
“I deplore… the putrid state into wich our newspapers have passed and the malignity, the vulgarity and the mendacious spirit of those who write for them…
These ordures are rapidly depraving the public taste and lessening its relish for sound food.
As vehicles of information and curb on our functionaries, they have rendered themselves useless by forfeiting all little to belief…
This has, in a great degree, been produced by the violence and malignity of party spirit…”
Un documento che, quanto qui riportato a parte, va attentamente considerato e approfondito questo proposto dal terzo Presidente degli Stati Uniti d’America.
